Succeeding as a new franchisee in recruitment

Kazi and Rifa Asif became new franchisees at Frontline Recruitment Group in February 2024. In less than 12 months, this husband and wife team have proven that the decision to buy the Frontline Health ACT and Southern NSW Franchise was the right one. They share their franchising journey so far.

Tell us a bit about your background and what led you to the Frontline Franchise opportunity?

Kazi has several years of experience in recruitment, which gave us a strong foundation in understanding the ins and outs of the industry. We always had the dream of doing something of our own, something that would allow us to combine our skills and passions in a meaningful way. When the Frontline Franchise opportunity came across our radar, it felt like the perfect fit. It allowed us to leverage Kazi’s recruitment experience while stepping into a well-structured business model.

Why did you buy a franchise vs starting a recruitment business from scratch on your own?

Starting a business from scratch comes with a lot of uncertainties and risks, especially in a competitive industry like recruitment. By buying into a franchise, we were able to tap into an established brand with a track record of success. The initial support, from training to ongoing mentoring, gave us the confidence to take the plunge.

Were you worried about giving up full-time employment and the impact on your income?

Of course! Transitioning from full-time employment to running your own business is a big leap, and the impact on our income was definitely a concern. However, we believed in the long-term potential of the franchise model and the support structure in place.

Did you have any other fears or concerns about buying a recruitment franchise?

Yes, stepping into the healthcare industry, which was new to us, brought its own set of challenges. We were concerned about whether we could adapt quickly enough and if we’d be able to establish ourselves in a field where we had little direct experience. However, the extensive training provided by Frontline, along with the resources available to us, helped bridge that knowledge gap.

What have you found surprising about being part of a franchise network?

One of the most surprising aspects has been the sense of community within the franchise network. We didn’t expect such a close-knit team, where everyone is genuinely supportive and welcoming. It feels like being part of a big family, where everyone is rooting for each other’s success.

What specific support do you receive that has helped you be successful?

The weekly developer sessions have been particularly valuable for us. These sessions provide ongoing training, insights into best practices, and a platform to discuss challenges and successes. Additionally, the regular check-ins and the availability of the support team whenever we need them have been crucial in keeping us on track and focused on our goals.

What specific goals or aspirations do you have as part of your Frontline Franchise Journey?

Our primary goal is to start growing our team and eventually own multiple agencies within the Frontline network. We’re focused on establishing Frontline Health ACT & Southern NSW as the go-to health recruitment agency in our region, and once we’ve solidified our presence, we’re eager to expand further.

What attributes do you think you need to be successful as a Frontline Franchisee?

To be successful as a Frontline franchisee, you need a strong work ethic, resilience, and a genuine passion for helping others. Recruitment is a people-centric business, so being able to build and maintain relationships is key. You also need to be adaptable and open to learning, as the industry is always evolving.
